Dee Fontans has dedicated her working career and life to the development of the arts as a master craftsman, volunteer, educator and community leader. She studied drawing, fashion design and gold smithing at Parsons the New School of Design and at the State University of New York. In 1988 she immigrated to Canada and brought the ‘Wearable Art’ movement to Calgary.
As part of the faculty at the Alberta College of Art + Design for 25 years she shared a creative journey with her students. She has been the lead costume designer for Manifold Pictures ‘The NorthLander’, exhibited art internationally, performed her poetry in NYC and curated art events in Western Canada.
